Therapeutic Infusions
Atoka County Medical Center (ACMC) provides therapeutic infusions as an alternative to oral treatment for patients who cannot swallow or digest medications orally.
Instead, medication is administered via a sterile catheter that is inserted into a vein and secured. Traditionally, infusion therapy was only used in hospitals, but it can now be administered on an outpatient basis or at the patient’s home by specially trained and licensed nurses.
Therapeutic infusions are usually administered to treat serious or chronic infections, as well as complex and congenital diseases, that fail to respond to oral antibiotics, such as:
- Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract
- Dehydration
- Multiple sclerosis
- Congestive heart failure
- Immune deficiency disorders
- Some forms of arthritis
- Crohn’s disease
- Cancers
At ACMC, we offer therapeutic infusions on an outpatient basis in the form of:
- Blood Product Infusions
- Iron Infusions
- Monoclonal Antibodies (COVID-19)
- Re Clast (to treat bone damage)
- IV Hydration
- Injectable Medications
- Antibodies
- Antiemetics
- Analgesics
- Immunotherapy
