Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients on a twenty-four basis. Maintains appropriate standards of practice and standards of care throughout the department. This position requires effective skills in communication, conceptual thinking, negotiation, integration, and planning. Collects laboratory specimens and preparing them for analysis and runs routine lab test under direction of MT/MLT of low to moderate complexity testing. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. 2. Graduate of an accredited school in the field of Phlebotomy is preferred. 3. Must be able to read, write, and speak English RESPONSIBILITY: • Collect body fluids and materials such as urine, blood, and cultures. • Perform certain low to moderate complexity tests as assigned by laboratory director. • Keeps track of supplies used in the laboratory and keeps area stocked with supplies. • Prepares specimens to be tested, stored, or transported to the reference laboratory. • Advises clinicians and other health care providers on proper methods of collections of specimens. • Analyze lab reports for accuracy and completeness • Deliver lab reports to physicians or nurses. • Maintain a neat and clean environment and follow all safety rules and regulations. • All other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or director.
